The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Committee of Lafayette has announced the activities and programs for the January 19-21 event.
On Saturday, January 19, starting at 1 p.m. there will be a musical extravaganza at the MLK Center on Cora Street followed by a Martin Luther King Youth Pageant at 4 p.m.
The following day, starting at 3 p.m. Former Cajundome Director Greg Davis will lead the Martin Luther King Parade.
The parade starts at the MLK Center and will proceed down ML King Memorial Parkway and conclude a the Clifton Chenier Center/Church of Philadelphia.

Opening activities on the day of observance, Monday, January 21, will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a flag raising ceremony.
A community luncheon program begin at 11:30 a.m. and it will be followed by medical and health screenings, a voter registration drive, display booths, and exhibits from 12:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The evening concludes with a Commemorative Program with the former Mayor of New Orleans Marc Morial as the featured speaker.
