LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- The Lafayette Police Department has seen a rash of vehicle burglaries in the last week.

The department said it has responded to 32 vehicles burglaries just in the last week.

“Of those, 16 involved unlocked vehicles,” the department said on its Facebook page today. “A total of four guns were stolen during those burglaries. We urge our citizens to be proactive in preventing these crimes of opportunity.”

Officers urger citizens to lock their vehicle at all times and never leave firearms inside.
