Lafayette Police are searching for a suspect in an early morning armed robbery.

Officers responded to the scene at 4:30 am on the 1300 block of Southeast Evangeline Thruway.

A black male suspect entered the convenience store armed with a handgun and demanded money, according to Corporal Paul Mouton.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

The clerk in the store was unharmed.

Police say the suspect is described as a 5’10” tall black male, approximately 20 years old and wearing a black t-shirt with red and white tennis shoes.
