Lafayette Parish schools will be open Wednesday as heavy rains move into Acadiana.

Several inches of rain and possible strong storms are expected throughout Acadiana, beginning Wednesday and lasting through the end of the week.

“We ask that parents make contingency plans for the care of their young children in the event we experience more rain than we expect and flooding is imminent,” district officials said in a Tuesday statement.

Any updates will be provided by local media and through Blackboard Connect messages. Officials are carefully monitoring the storm system and will give further updates regarding plans for Thursday.
