“Lafayette Strong” has become a rallying cry for this community following Thursday night’s Grand Theater shooting.
People all over the Hub City and beyond have begun displaying signs, shirts and banners as a part of what has become somewhat of a movement here in Acadiana and beyond. Local businesses have especially stepped up to show support to the city we call home.
Amanda Bustamante works at Dwight’s Restaurant just down the street from the Grand Theatre. She says Lafayette Strong means many things, most importantly the coming together of an entire community. “Being strong is being a team, as people, growing together because you can’t be strong by yourself all the time. So having that is the best thing anybody can have.”
As you drive along any street in Acadiana you’ll see the words of “Lafayette Strong” just about everywhere you look members of the community here in the hub city say they refuse to let Thursday night’s shooting define who or what Lafayette is.
