A Lake Charles man wanted for first degree murder in Jefferson Davis was captured Wednesday.
Calcasieu Parish authorities say the suspect, 32-year-old Justin Benoit arrived at the home of a female acquaintance in Westlake in a stolen car.
When asked to leave, he refused. Deputies say when they arrived he fled the home on foot into a nearby wooded area.
After a short search with the K-9 unit, Benoit was captured. During the investigation, authorities say they learned the suspect had forced his way into the home and sexually battered her.
They also learned he was wanted for first degree murder in Jefferson Davis Parish. He is connected to the Devin Marc Sanders’ murder in Topsy on Aug. 10.
Benoit was charged with knowledge and aiding suspected killer David Wade Clark after the murder and before his capture, the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
No bond has been set at this time.
