(NuNu family statement on tragic fatal fire at historic property)
“At around 5:30 a.m. today, Sunday, Feb.4, a still unidentified driver somehow wrecked, possibly into a pole containing electrical, and the historic La Pataterie (sweet potato drying kiln) caught fire.
The driver did not survive, certainly the greatest of losses in this tragedy.
The NUNU family extends condolences to the family of that person who lost life.
As to LaPataterie, it is a tremendous blow in the scheme of the future of the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective, but we, members and supporters together, shall preserve.
The NUNU collective is not contained by structures.”
Following the release of this statement, State Police identified the driver as 23 year old Dominick S. Roy of Breaux Bridge.
