Police arrested a man accused of intentionally setting an outdoor chair on fire which spread to the house. 

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the1700 block of La Neuville Road.

According to Fire Department PIO Alton Trahan, when firefighters arrived, a chair was on fire under the carport.

He said the fire was starting to spread to the house.

The home, he said, sustained light fire damage on the exterior wall.

A vehicle under the carport had some heat damage. 

It was determined that the fire originated on the chair under the carport and information gathered indicated that the fire was intentionally set.

33 year old Brent Bourke was arrested for setting the chair on fire and charged with simple arson.

He was booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with no bond.
