LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Friends and relatives are mourning the man killed in Monday’s fiery crash on Congress Street.
Police confirm that Brad Wedlock, 28, of Lafayette, died when his vehicle was struck from the rear near the intersection of Guilbeau Road.
Police suspect excessive speed is believed to have been a factor. Friends of Wedlock talk about the man they remember.
107.9 Morning Show Host Chris Reed says he worked with Wedlock at the radio station. He says Wedlock had many passions ranging from working toward earning a Ph.D. in Education while moonlighting as a disc jockey at local venues. Reed says Wedlock was best known as “Brad Striker.”

“His energy was contagious. He always had that feeling around him that everything is going to be okay. Let’s just go have fun,” adds Reed. Reed fondly talks about Brad as the brother he says he never had.
“It’s not fair. There are some circumstances that just are not fair in life and this is one of them,” says Reed. Reed says Brad will be missed by not just friends but also by his family. “We are just in utter shock that someone so bright with so much potential has been taken away from us way too soon,” explains Reed.
