PORT BARRE, La. (KLFY)- A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man multiple times during a dispute over a loaned cell phone.
Just before 5 p.m. onFebruary 27, 2019, Port Barre Police officers were called to the Acadiana Practitioners Medical office in reference to a stabbing victim.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who was being treated by medical staff. The 47-year-old victim had “multiple stab wounds on the upper parts of his arms and upper back area and was bleeding profusely.”
The victim told police he went to the home, where the juvenile lives to retrieve a cellphone he loaned to one of the adults in the home.
The victim stated, the teen was outside and “begin cursing at him and approached him in an aggressive manner then repeatedly stabbed him.” The victim said he ran away and stopped at the Acadiana Practitioners office for medical help. He was taken via ambulance to the Opelousas General Hospital and later released.
The juvenile was arrested, booked on the charge of aggravated second degree battery and placed under temporary court authorized emergency detention at the Port Barre jail.
This morning, he was transferred to the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
