Hunting season is just around the corner and many are out racking up on their hunting essentials while taking advantage of the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday Weekend.

As summer comes to an end many are now preparing for the upcoming hunting season.

The purchase of hunting items such as firearms, bullets, safety equipment and other essentials were free of the state and local sales tax.

The General Manager of Lafayette Shooters, Blake Boudreaux says his store has been preparing for this weekend all year.

“You know as hunting season comes people are starting to anticipate that and are getting stocked up. So we have our 24 month interest free financing doubled up with the tax free, so a lot of preparation.”” Said Boudreaux.

Boudreaux says the store was booming with business from start to end.

“Very, very much anticipated with the extra customers, but we are maned to handle the situation. We been busy but have great employees here and we’re efficient and get people helped in a timely manner.”” Said Boudreaux.

Boudreaux anticipated a big crowd of customers shopping and taking advantage of spending less.

In fact, staff got geared up for the extra business months in advance.

“We increase a lot especially for this weekend. We’ll have about 95 percent employees here during this weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”” Said Boudreaux.

Boudreaux explains that customers used the hunters sales tax holiday to stock up on hunting supplies – especially clothing and equipment with firearms topping the list.

“It’s definitely firearms. those are the larger ticket items. But a person who wants to take advantage of the tax free with clothing, that stuff can get expensive as well.”” Said Boudreaux.

Teal season begins next week and deer season starts October 1st.
