LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- UPDATE: A women was taken to a local hospital for wounds she may have received inside a motel room on the Evangeline Thruway.
At approximately 11:42 p.m., Lafayette Police were called to the Super 7 Motel in reference to “suspicious circumstances” inside one of the rooms.
After no one responded at the door, the motel was placed on lockdown with additional law enforcement, including SWAT, called to the scene, LPD spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said.
Once inside the room, police found a woman suffering moderate injuries. How she received the wounds has not been disclosed by police at this time.
Dugas said authorities do not believe this incident is related to yesterday’s deadly shooting.
An investigation is ongoing.
ORIGINAL: Authorities are back at a motel where a deadly shooting occurred Thursday afternoon. We’ve got a news crew headed to the scene.
At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to the motel in the 2100 block of the NW Evangeline Thruway in reference to a shooting.
One victim, identified as 48-year-old Frederick Richardson, of Baton Rouge, later died from his injuries.
No arrests were made as of Thursday evening.
This afternoon, authorities including SWAT, were called to the motel.
