Update: At Wednesday’s meeting, LPSB approved of motion to rename the Vermilion Conference Center’s Media Center to the Carol Ann Richard Media Center.

Carol Ann Richard worked for the Lafayette Parish School System. Last month ago, Richard was killed by a suspected drunk driver. Wednesday the school board discussed renaming the Media Center in her memory.  LPSS Library Science Specialist Patrick Hanisee proposed renaming the center “Carol Ann Richard Media Center.”

“She was very creative and very artistic.  She was extremely good on the computer.  She was organized. All those things together are really tough to find in one person.  She was extraordinary,” adds Hanisee.  “We’re pretty sure.  The superintendent has agreed to it.  The board president has agreed to it. We feel relativity sure the board will not have a problem with it.”
