LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- A Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was charged with one count of cruelty to a juvenile this morning.

Cassina Mertell was arrested by the Lafayette Police Department and booked on a $2,500 bond.

She has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman John Mowell said.
