LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- Three men from Texas were arrested Thursday night after a traffic stop led to a drug raid.
At about 5:30 p.m., Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics Agents and SWAT Team members executed a traffic stop with the assistance of the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit. Because this is an ongoing investigation, authorities have not specified where in the parish the stop occurred.
A K-9 search of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics, the department said.
A cardboard box containing a large quantity of Methamphetamine was then located inside the vehicle. Deputies seized approximately 6.5 pounds (2,978 grams) of Methamphetamine, with a DEA street value of $595,600.
As a result of the investigation, three suspects were arrested: Victor Manual Aguirre, 21, of Sugarland, Texas. He was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances
Leonarno Santana Aguirre, 22, of Sugarland, Texas, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances & Resisting an Officer.
Sandra Duran Sanchez, 27, of Rosharon, Texas, faces Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substances.
