LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- UPDATE: The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a Truman Early Childhood Education Center has been charged.

Laura Delahoussaye faces one count of simple battery. 

This morning, a Truman Early Childhood Education Center administrator notified the Lafayette Parish School District office regarding an alleged incident whereby a teacher inappropriately disciplined a student.

LPSS officials have placed Delahoussaye on administrative leave. 

“The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the allegation, and law enforcement has been notified,“ the Lafayette Parish School District said in a statement today.
