LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Lafayette Parish School System says a total of 1,799 students graduated from the five traditional high schools in the parish this year.

Graduation ceremonies for each of the schools were held at the Cajundome on May 23, 2016.

Of those students, 1,356 were Core 4 graduates, 339 were Basic Core graduates, 46 graduated with a Career Diploma and 58 earned a High School Equivalency Diploma.

LPSS says this year’s graduates were offered $30,301,697 in scholarships.

The Early College Academy also had 45 students graduate on May 12th with $1,074,964 in scholarships offered.

And on May 20th 53 students from the David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy graduated and were offered $852,302 in scholarships.

The Lafayette Parish School System celebrates the accomplishments of all graduates this year.
