EUNICE, La. (KLFY) – Louisiana State Police have identified the woman who died in a single-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on US 190.

Master Trooper Brooks David said the driver, Shinequia Anders, 24, of Eunice, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Croner’s Office.

The crash happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. on US 190 near LA 758, about five miles east outside of Eunice.

Anderson was driving westbound in a 2005 Ford Escape SUV,  when for unknown reasons she, “ran off the right side of the roadway, traveled through a ditch and struck a culvert. The vehicle began to overturn, ejecting Anderson from the vehicle,” according to David.

She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and suffered fatal injuries from the crash.

Two passengers, a 23-year-old and a juvenile, were also not wearing seatbelts.

Both of the passengers sustained moderate injuries and had to be airlifted by Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

David said police do not know if Anderson was intoxicated at the time of the crash. A toxicology sample from Anderson will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
