LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – The Lafayette Transit System will offer free rides on November 25 and November 26, in recognition of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
The promotion applies to all three transit services, including Daytime, Night Owl, and Para-transit.
Mayor-President Joel Robideaux said, “It is my hope that the complimentary bus day will meet our regular transit riders’ needs, whether that’s running holiday errands or getting to and from work, while also attracting new riders.”
LTS hopes to alleviate roadway congestion and higher traffic volume that is expected in the days after Thanksgiving, due to holiday shopping.
Using Google maps on a smart phone or device, LTS riders can also benefit from a more convenient transit experience with easy access to local bus information including stops, routes, and schedules. When travelers are accessing routes to their destinations via Google Maps, public transit directions appear as an alternative to driving directions within the LTS service area. By clicking the transit option, users are linked to their LTS route and can select preferences for the most direct route via stop/station icons that appear on the map.

All bus services, including Daytime, Night Owl, and Para-transit, will not run on November 24 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Black Friday, Nov. 25, LTS bus services, including Daytime, Night Owl, and Para-transit will run the Saturday schedule and offices will be closed due to the Acadian Day official holiday.
Regular scheduled transit services will resume on Saturday, November 26, 2016.
