A Lafayette man was arrested at a local hotel, over the weekend, and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
23-year-old Alex Ortuno was reportedly seen pointing a rifle from his open hotel window into the parking lot, according to the social media account for the Police Association of Lafayette.
It happened Saturday around 9:30 p.m.
Police responded to the hotel amid reports of a male who appeared to be dressed in a thick winter military style uniform, pointing a rifle from his open hotel window into the parking lot.
Officers arrived and identified the room the suspect was inside and while evacuating several other rooms, police reportedly saw the suspect pacing in front of the window with the rifle in hand, the post states.
After all civilians were cleared, officers were able to confront the suspect and take him into custody.
An investigation is on-going.
