A New Iberia man facing charges of attempted murder and second degree battery of his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of a home improvement store in New Iberia, has been convicted.

Authorities say Bradley Boudreaux pled guilty on September 10, 2018.

In May of 2017, Boudreaux fractured the victim’s rib during a domestic dispute and following his arrest violated the no contact order put in place and committed an escalated offense of attempted second degree murder in which, authorities say, he hit the victim with a truck as she tried to escape from him in the Lowe’s parking lot on Hwy 14.

During the same altercation he also strangled the victim, knocked her unconscious, and knocked eight teeth from her mouth, authorites said.

He then fled the location with the victim holding her captive until his apprehension the following day.

Boudreaux had two prior convictions both for Second Degree Battery in 2005 and 2007.

At a sentencing hearing held on January 10, 2019, Judge Suzanne deMahy sentenced the defendant to five years on the charge of Second Degree Battery and twenty years on the charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder concurrent with one another.
