We now know the name of the man accused of shooting at a state police trooper and police dog in Springfield.
35 year old Mohamed Fofanah Jr. of Hartford, Connecticut was arrested and now police say he could get deported.
It all started just after midnight Saturday morning. Fofanah was driving very slowly southbound on I-91. Police realized the car was wanted for a hit and run just minutes before.
Fofanah took Exit 4, got out and started to walk toward Main Street and East Columbus Avenue. When he wouldn’t stop for state police, they released the police dog.
That’s when Fofanah allegedly fired a shot, which missed. The dog tackled him and police arrested him.
State Police say they’ve contacted Immigration’s and Customs Enforcement about possibly deporting him. He’s charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
