New Iberia Police are investigating a New Year’s Eve shooting.

According to Police, detectives arrived on scene near the intersection of Ann and Twenty Arpent Rd. around 11 Monday night  where one person was shot.

The victim sustained a gunshot to the lower torso and is being treated a local hospital, according to police. 

40-year-old LeQuint Livingston was booked into Iberia Parish jail after beng identified by multiple witnesses as the person responsible for the shooting, police said, and officers recovered physical evidence tying this suspect to the shooting.

Livingston was booked on the following charges:

attempted second degree murder
aggravated assault with a firearm (8 counts)
aggravated criminal damage to property (3 counts)
felon in possession of a firearm
possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone

Officers responded quickly and were able to locate the suspect vehicle that fired the shots.

An occupant of the vehicle was identified by multiple witnesses as the person responsible for the shooting. Officers also recovered physical evidence tying this suspect to the shooting.
