OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – The Opelousas Police Department have made an arrest after conducting a traffic stop that eventually lead to a big drug seizure.
On Thursday, September 22nd, officers were conducting the traffic stop on a silver Cadillac for several traffic violations.
While speaking to the driver, Gerard Bihm, officers reportedly smelled a strong burnt marijuana odor coming from the vehicle.
Officers investigated and recovered marijuana from inside the vehicle and later from his residence.
Approximately 33 lbs. of marijuana worth approximately $30,000 were seized in total.
Bihm was arrested and charged with the following charges:
- Traffic Violations
- Possession with Intent to Distribute (Schedule I)
- Drug Paraphernalia
- Transactions involving proceeds from drug offense
- Illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS
