Winnsboro, LA— A Winnsboro man lost his life Friday after the riding lawn mower he was driving was struck by a car.
According to State Police, shortly before 5:50 p.m. troopers responded to a crash that occurred on LA Hwy 3201 just south of Winnsboro.
Police say the crash took the life of 66-year-old Samuel Reynolds.
An initial investigation has revealed that Reynolds was driving a lawn mower, in the roadway, eastbound on LA Hwy 3201 at a slow rate of speed.
Police say this resulted in an eastbound vehicle, driven by 51-year-old Curtis Hilbun of Wisner, LA, colliding with the lawn mower from behind.
Reynolds suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the crash.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
