Louisiana State Troopers are investigating a two vehicle crash that left one man dead Friday night.
State Troopers say the accident happened just after 7 p.m. on LA 411 south of US 190 in Pointe Coupee Parish.
After an initial investigation, State Troopers say that 61-year-old Brett Bergeron of Lottie, LA was driving a 2008 Chevy Silverado southbound on LA 411 when for unknown reasons he crossed into the northbound lane. Bergeron then hit an Acadian Ambulance traveling northbound head-on.
Bergeron who wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the ambulance, 45-year-old Peter Woods and his passenger received minor injuries.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash but a routine toxicology test was taken from Bergeron and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Woods submitted to a chemical breath test but showed not detectable signs of impairment.
The crash remains under investigation.
