ST. CHARLES, La. — The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man was found shot to death inside a car on I-10 West on the Spillway following a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning. 

According to the sheriff’s office, around 3:30 a.m. deputies received a report of a vehicle crash on the interstate near mile markers 217 and 219. 

Once crews were on scene, they found a crashed vehicle with several bullet holes. A man was found dead inside the car, the sheriff’s office says. 

Other occupants of the vehicle were taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. 

The sheriff’s office says they believe there may have been a collision with a white colored vehicle.

I-10 West was closed due to the investigation, with traffic diverted onto I-310, however, the interstate is now reopened.
