Lobdell, LA – Shortly before 6:00 pm Saturday State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle fatal crash involving a pedestrian on LA 415 north of Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish.

The crash took the life of 25 year old Cai Zhenshenh of China.

An initial investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Zhenshenh was walking in the center turn lane of LA 415.

Police say for unknown reasons, Zhenshenh walked into the path of a northbound 2014 Dodge Ram driven by 52 year old Vernell Morgan of Baton Rouge, LA.

Morgan’s vehicle struck Zhenshenh throwing him across the center turn lane into the southbound lane of LA 415.

Zhenshenh landed in the path of a 2010 Toyota Highlander driven by 53 year old Shari Vidrine of Covington, LA.

Vidrine’s vehicle struck Zhenshenh in the left lane of LA 415 southbound.

Police say he sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where she later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by doctors.

Morgan and Vidrine were properly restrained and were not injured, according to police.

Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash but a toxicology sample will be taken from Zhenshenh, Morgan, and Vidrine for analysis.
