UPDATE: Authorities have ruled this morning’s shooting at the Holy Family Apartments was accidental and self-inflicted.
Lafayette Police spokesperson Karl Ratcliff said the victim is in critical condition at a local hospital.
There are no suspects or no charges in the case.
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette Police are on the scene of a shooting at the Holy Family Apartments on Louisiana Avenue.
Karl Ratcliff, an LPD spokesperson, confirmed a man was shot in the chest inside an apartment shortly before noon
The man is currently being treated at a local hospital.
Ratcliff said detectives are interviewing several people who were inside of the apartment when the man was shot.
He specified the interviewees are not suspects at this time.
The police spokesperson could not comment further on the circumstances of the shooting, citing it was too early on in the investigation.
