LAFAYETTE, La.– (KLFY) – A 45-year old man was found dead with a gunshot wound early Thursday morning.

Lafayette Police answered a call around 1:58 Thursday morning about shots fired on the 100 block of Hansel Drive. John Jones was found laying and unresponsive with a gunshot wound in his chest according to Cpl. Bridgette Dugas.

Witnesses told police that the suspect escaped in Jones’ white Buick Rendevous. The car was found later empty at a local hotel.

The case is under investigation.
