MERMENTAU, La. (KLFY)— One man has been arrested after the “keen eyes” of patrolling deputies notice suspicious activity, said authorities.
According to a news release, deputies with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office saw a white male acting suspiciously at 1:15 in the morning. Deputies said the man was trying to hide behind a residence.
Authorities said as they investigated deputies recovered illegal narcotics which included Temazepam and Methocarbamol.
“The deputies then furthered their investigation by searching the area which they had observed the subject hiding.” Stated Sheriff K.P. Gibson, “during their search, deputies located a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun where the subject was located.”
According to the sheriff, that handgun was stolen.
The subject identified as Trevor Soileau, 24, of Mermantau was charged with illegal possession of stolen property, illegal carrying of a firearm, and possession of schedule I & IV narcotics.
Soileau was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
“They [deputies] located this suspect lurking through property of people who were sleeping.” Said the sheriff, “We are uncertain as the exact intent of Soileau, but the keen eyes of these deputies stopped this individual beforehand.”
