Crowley police say one person was shot in the chest and in the arm while attending a funeral Saturday in Crowley.
Multiple shots were fired at First Baptist Church, 228 E 4th St. in Crowley, Chief Jimmy Broussard said.
Broussard said the victim was attending the funeral of a murder victim, 26 year old Brydon Gray and Gray’s mother, who passed away two days after her son died.
Gray was gunned down at his home, October 28, in the 700 block of Leslie Amos Street.
Police say the suspect came from behind the home and opened fire, hitting Gray multiple times.
Gray was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
His mother, according to Chief Broussard, died two days after her son as a result of heart problems.
Saturday’s shooting happened just after 11 a.m.
Broussard said the victim was exiting the church during the funeral procession when the shots rang out.
According to Broussard, he witnessed the shooting of his friend, Brydon Gray.
Broussard said the suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction. He said they appeared from behind a bush and opened fire.
Multiple vehicles were sprayed with bullets, according to Broussard, including the vehicle of the priest who delivered the homily.
Broussard said there was about 200 people in attendance at the funeral.
