BATON ROUGE, La. (KLFY)—A time for prayer, that’s how the people of Baton Rouge responded to a recent tragedy, and it seemed their prayer has grown and grown.

One Baton Rouge resident tells KLFY he hopes the prayer spreads, “Hopefully that will become a virus per say and spread and it’s a good virus because we can then bring love to everybody.”

After hearing the news that three police officers died, the community gathered together.

“I didn’t hear about it. I was actually mowing my lawn and I didn’t hear about it until 11 and I was actually a mile away from where it happened.” said another resident.

The evening started with a catholic rosary for peace in the area, and later a prayer vigil for one of the victims, Officer Matthew Gerald.

While the future of Baton Rouge is uncertain, people gathered at the vigil say they find their certainty in God during these troubled times.

The knights of Columbus at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church says they will be hosting this Rosary for Peace every night this week at various churches throughout the area.
