JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY)- A 30-year-old man is facing multiple charges after he fled from deputies with the Jeanerette Marshal’s Office Tuesday
At roughly 6 p.m. on April 17, authorities attempted to pull over a speeding driver who reportedly refused to pull over, Jeanerette City Marshal Fernest “PacMan” Martin said.
“The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee from the officer losing control of his vehicle,” Martin said. “The subject then fled on foot but was later apprehended in a cane field near the area.”
During the investigation, a deputy found what is believed to be marijuana contained in an orange juice container.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $1000, Martin said.
The suspect, identified at Joseph Sam III was charged with possession with intent, reckless operation, aggravated flight and driving under suspension.

The subject was taken to the Iberia Parish Jail and is awaiting arraignment.
