More Dangerous Heat Covers Louisiana

The following has been released by the Governor’s Office:BATON ROUGE, La. – More dangerous heat levels are expected across the state this week. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is urging everyone to use caution. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast calls for temperatures ranging from the upper-90’s to near 100 degrees. When combined with humidity, heat indices will range from 105 to 110 degrees. “Forecasters say a high-pressure ridge and high temperatures have created a heat dome over much of the country, including Louisiana,” said GOHSEP Director Jim Waskom. “The atmospheric conditions do not allow the heat to escape which creates dangerous temperatures. Use caution when you are outdoors. Some heat-related advisories are already in effect in Louisiana. Look for other important information from your local weather experts and the National Weather Service.”
