As of September, 2018 there are approximately 483 convicted sex offenders being monitored by the Lafayette Parish Sheriffs’ Office, according to the LPSO Facebook page.
The Sheriff’s Office says it maintains a Sex Offender Registry in accordance with LA RS 15:542 in order to provide an additional opportunity for the community to maintain awareness of sex offenders who live in their neighborhood.
All convicted sex offenders within the city of Lafayette, surrounding municipalities and the unincorporated areas of the parish are properly registered and in compliance with sex offender registry laws, according to the Sheriff’s office.
Individuals listed on the registry have been convicted of a sexual offense that requires them to meet a number of mandates including annual registration with law enforcement.
