• Thanksgiving is tomorrow and millions of people are already on their way to a turkey dinner. More than 54 million Americans plan to travel more than 50 miles this holiday. State police are preparing for a busy thanksgiving travel weekend.  State troopers will be focused on reducing the number of incidents on our highways.
  • The Lafayette City-Parish Council approved an ordinance to sell the former federal courthouse building in Downtown Lafayette.  The property has been vacant since 1998.  Now a new company says it will convert the property into apartments, to increase development in downtown Lafayette.
  • More thefts occur on Black Friday than any other day of the year. The Lafayette Police Department are giving out tips for shoppers to prevent becoming a victim. Beware of surroundings, park vehicles in well-lit areas, keep bags out of plain sight in cars, avoid shopping with tons of cash. 

  • The Vermilion Parish Police Jury has declared an emergency for soybean farmers in the parish because of the rainy conditions throughout the year.
