EUNICE, La. (KLFY) – Saturday, cyclists drove around Acadiana to benefit Blaine David, as he fights his second battle with cancer.
Drivers from all over the country participated in a poker run to honor volunteer firefighter and St. Landry Parish Sheriff Deputy Blaine David as he battles his second fight with cancer.
“Blaine is just a kind and wonderful man,” said former co-worker Clay Higgins, “and this ride is mostly an expression of love.”
David’s friends and family gathered around him at the Northwest Community Center Pavillion to celebrate his life and support him as he faces his second battle with cancer.
“He’s a guy that’ll give you the shirt off his back, he will help you any kind of way he can,” said Ben Fontenot, “He’s helped this community numerous ways”
David was an Acadia Parish District Four volunteer fireman and a St. Landry Parish Sheriff Deputy.
“It’s terrible to hear another law enforcement officer is going down this way, “ said police officer Joey Fontenot.
Drivers drove all around Acadiana to show their love and support for David.
Riders came from Texas, Tennessee, Florida and more to pay tribute to a man who left his mark on the community.
