LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) –  Residents say they are fed up with the construction along Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Construction sites, speed zones, and lane shifts are what motorists battle every day on their commutes.

Ian Armentor lives on Verot School Road and works onJohnstonn Street. He said the construction has made his travel time to work increase significantly.

“Sometimes I get through the road in two, three minutes, other times it takes 30 minutes or an hour.”

The construction on Ambassador Caffery includes a new Super 1 Foods store and Feezo’s Restaurant.

Nick Gautreaux travels to Lafayette fromYoungsville daily. He said while having to battle construction zones is a hassle, it will eventually help the flow of traffic.

“I think construction is a good thing. Because when you are doing construction like that, adding lanes, blacktopping, widening the highway that’s going to allow for a better flow of traffic.”

Gautreaux said in the end, the construction will benefit the area. “in the future it’s going to be great for the businesses and the people.”

“In the future, it’s going to be great for the businesses and the people.”

Carol McCoy said when dealing with congestion on the road it’s always helpful to have some patience.

“It’s not that bad if you just be patient. They are trying to fix and improve the area so you just take it with a grain of salt and go on.”

McCoy said she can manage during the construction period, but she’s looking forward to the completed project.
