SCOTT, La.. (KLFY)- Newly elected Scott Mayor Jan-Scott Richard has been busy since taking office. He feels service companies are targeting Scott because of easy access.
“Proximity to Interstate 10 is a luxury,” the mayor said.
Richard said the city of Scott has made a concerted effort, despite the expected oil and gas rebound, to make sure the city’s economy is balanced.
“It’s diversifying our economy. That is what we are always looking to do,” said Richard.
The city is growing quickly, but the mayor says he is not worried about the speed of the growth.
“We are prepared for the growth. We started with infrastructure and started to build within and laid the ground work,” he said.
These service companies that are locating in the city are bringing jobs with them. which is always welcomed.
“Cypress Energy will create some, Matural Oil will bring jobs, but it depends on how high oil goes up,” the mayor said.
Richard said there are currently about 20 service companies in the city of Scott.
