OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – Loralyn Huval, 28, has been accused and confessed to being sexually involved with a 17-year-old female student at Opelousas High School.

While there’s no exact timeframe of how long this relationship carried out, but “it didn’t just start yesterday,” Opelousas Police Chief Donald Thompson said.

As New 10 reported on December 10, Huval allegedly had sex with a female student at an Opelousas hotel after homecoming festivities earlier this year.

According to Chief Donald Thompson, this was not the only incident.

“This type of act that we’re speaking of today happened during the school hours”, Thompson said.

Following Huval’s arrest, she resigned.

St. Landry Parish Superintendent Dr. Patrick Jenkins confirmed the resignation and released this statement:

“First, our thoughts and prayers are with the victim in this matter. We take these matters seriously and behavior of this type will not be tolerated by any employee. Unfortunately, it’s a personnel matter and we can disclose any information.”

Chief Thompson says it’s unfortunate what happened, but the guilty party will be dealt with accordingly.

“It’s happening every day somewhere across this country,” the chief said. “It’s unfair to the children because their innocence are being taken from them.”

Chief Thompson says the student will not face any charges and after speaking with the school resource officer, the student is doing well.

Sources tell News 10 that top school district officials will be speaking to the board about declining Huval’s resignation and terminating her; making her ineligible for pension.
