The City of Opelousas is officially under new leadership after swearing-in ceremonies were held Sunday at the Opelousas Civic Center.
Sworn into the office were Mayor Julius Alsandor and Police Chief Martin McClendon.
Family, friends and scores of local residents filled the building for the ceremony.
Alsandor, a longtime alderman and Administrative Assistant at Opelousas High School, beat Tyrone Glover in the November runoff election.
McClendon, a retired city police captain, beat Graig LeBlanc, in the runoff election.
