The SMILE Agency board chose Craig Mathews to take a leadership position at SMILE, since CEO Chris Williams is out on indefinite leave.
Mathews says he received a call Thursday night alerting him of the new position available to him as ‘executive administrative consultant.’
He tells News 10 he still doesn’t know what his responsibilities would be if and when he takes the job, but he’s glad to move forward with the process, “I am interested and willing to meet with members of the executive committee to discuss what that role will entail.”
Mathews says that despite some challenges SMILE has faced, he believes that “The agency is still very capable of providing uninterrupted quality services to its constituents.”
He suggests that if multiple entities within the agency work together, real change can happen.
“There’s an old adage that says ‘it takes a whole village’,” says Mathews.
Mathews tells News 10 he believes he has the professional experience, charismatic ability, and skill sets necessary to move the agency forward in its mission of helping people and changing lives.
