Here are some of today’s headlines you should know before heading out the door:

  • A 63-year old Breaux Bridge man was killed over the weekend after be hit by a car while trying to cross LA 347. The crash remains under investigation.
  • Five people are dead in Southern California after a plane crashed in the parking lot of a busy shopping center in Santa Ana. The FAA says the pilot declared an emergency just before the crash.
  • More than 80 people were killed after a powerful earthquake struck Indonesia on Sunday. Hundreds are injured and thousands of homes have been destroyed. Evacuees are now sleeping outside and in tents.
  • The LSU AgCenter will host the third annual Louisiana Farm to School Conference in October. Farm to School programs aim to increase students’ ability to get healthy. 
  • A major network is airing a documentary on a controversial death of Victor White III. White was shot and killed in 2014 while in the custody of Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies.
  • Executive Chef Ryan Trahan, of Blue Dog Cafe, won the Great American Seafood Cookoff over the weekend. Trahan is the first Acadiana native to win the competition.
  • Scattered rain is possible for Acadiana today. Skies will be partly cloudy with a high in the low 90’s along with a scattered rain chance, mainly during the afternoon and evening.
