Here are some of today’s headlines you should know before heading out the door:
- A father was arrested after allegedly abducting his three year old daughter from her mother’s home in Ville Platte Sunday afternoon.
- Authorities in Louisiana are still searching for a man suspected of shooting and wounding a deputy responding to a disturbance at a Metairie hotel.
- Republican Kyle Ardoin defeated Democrat Gwen Collins-Greenup to become Louisiana’s Secretary of State. Ardoin walked away with 59% of the votes.
- A half-cent sales tax proposal from Sheriff Mark Garber failed with 66% of voters saying no over the weekend. The Sheriff says his office will strive to provide the best law enforcement services possible with the limited resources available.
- Big changes are coming to Lafayette in 2020 as voters agreed Saturday to split the City-Parish Councils into two. More than 18,000 voted in favor of the Home Rule Carter Amendment. Over 16,000 voted against. The voter turn-out was 22%.
- The State Health Department says free flu shots will be available this Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Parish Health Units across Louisiana.
- It’s bowl week for the Ragin’ Cajuns. On Saturday they take on Tulane in the Autonation Cure Bowl. You can watch the game on the CBS Sports Network this Saturday. It kicks off at 12:30 p.m. from Camping World Stadium!
- Three Louisiana natives have been nominated for Grammys. Abbeville’s, Koryn Hawthorne, Lafayette’s Lauren Daigle, and Lake Charles native Sean Ardoin. The awards ceremony will take place February, 10 right here on KLFY.
- We’re in crunch time as Christmas Eve is now only two weeks away. For those of you waiting until the last minute to ship your holiday gifts, Fedex says Friday, December 21st is the last day you can ship if you want your packages to arrive by Christmas.
- It’s a cold morning across Acadiana with temps in the 30’s to 40’s as we stay quiet and cool today. Skies will be mostly sunny with a high in the mid 50’s. It will be a little breezy.
