  • It’ll be a final farewell in his adopted hometown of Houston, Texas. President George H.W. Bush will be laid to rest today after the nation pauses one last time to remember the 41st President.
  • One person was sent to the hospital Wednesday night after a fire broke out at an apartment. The fire started on the stove and was ruled an accident.
  • Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating eight vehicle burglaries that happened in the span of one day in Maurice. Take a look at this surveillance video from one resident who was burglarized.
  • The New Iberia City Council is working to prevent loitering throughout the city. They have created a new form for local business owners to fill out. They agreed to let Public Works hang a no loitering sign, and the Police Department will monitor loitering.
  • The Lafayette Parish School System has rounded it down to 2 options for next schools calendar. Under Calendar 1A, school would start on August 8th of 2019, and end on May 20th of 2020. Under Calendar 5A, school would start August 15th of 2019, and end on May 28th of 2020.
  • N.P. Moss Preparatory School will be renamed to Dr. Rapheal A. Baranco Elementary School to honor the long-time civic and educational leader.
  • The LHSAA Football Prep Classic begins today at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Today, Lafayette Christian Academy will face Ascension Catholic at 3:30 p.m. And Notre Dame and Catholic of New Iberia face off tonight at 7:00 p.m.
