Here are some of today’s headlines you should know before heading out the door:

• Baldwin mayor Dona Lanceslin place town clerk Chrystal Willis on administrative leave citing insubordination, creating a workplace not conducive to productive among other reasons. Willis says that’s fake news. And there’s no documentation of her ever being reprimanded. The mayor wants a council vote to decide Willis’ fate. That is now pending the outcome of me of a special meeting, which is to be determined.
• The Rayne Police Department teamed up with the Lafayette Police Department to conduct an active shooter training held at Rayne High School. This was to better prepare officers in the case of an active shooter.
• Opelousas has opened their new water bill drive-thru. The drive-thru seeks to help older customers.
• A historic multi-families ethnic Creole Families’ Bastille Day celebration is happening this Saturday, July 14th in Ville Platte.
• Festival International will also be celebrating the Francophone heritage in Downtown Lafayette with La Fete Nationale: A Bastille Day celebration.
• The 10th annual Race Against the Clock marathon blood drive is still underway. Visit the United Blood Services Donor Center on Bertrand Drive to donate.
• Endangered whooping cranes released into Louisiana’s wilds have had their best hatching season so far. The majestic birds barely escaped extinction with six hatching just this past Spring.
• Beginning this morning, skateboaders can once again shred at the popular skate park near the Downtown area of New Iberia. It will be a ‘skate at your own risk’ facility with rules posted on signs.
• Scattered showers and storms will be possible again today, mainly late this morning and during the afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny with a high in the 90s along with scattered storms.
