- A drug bust in St. Landry Parish marks another incident in an increased rate this year. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says crystal meth is the biggest issue in the parish.
- Lafayette City-Parish Council member Kenneth Boudreaux held a town hall meeting to discuss the possible split, that would create a separate city and parish council. Boudreaux says he’ll propose an amendment that will prohibit the term limited councilmen from running for new councils.
- The Downtown Abbeville bridge over the Vermilion river was closed for repairs for a month. It’s now open and is a positive impact for the local community.
- Louisiana for Prison Alternatives-Acadiana are calling a public meeting this afternoon. The purpose is to inform the community on items listed on the upcoming November ballot, regarding Criminal Justice reform efforts. The meeting is taking place at the Clifton Chenier Center, beginning at 6:00 p.m.
- Five teens have been arrested and two deputies are recovering after an officer-involved shooting and chase in Jefferson Parish this morning.
- Louisiana will spend $60 million in oil spill recovery money on recreational projects to bolster boating, fishing and outdoor leisure opportunities across coastal parishes.
- Candidates for Louisiana’s November 6th election have to declare their intentions this week. The sign-up period opens today and runs through Friday.
- Homeowners with damage from the 2016 Louisiana floods have only a few days left to apply for a federally-financed aid program. The deadline is Friday.
- Scattered rain is possible for Acadiana today. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high in the low 90’s along with a scattered rain chance. The heat index will be around 100-105°.
