  • Three years ago today, an Alabama gunman went inside theatre 14 of the Grand Theatre and opened fire. 21-year-old Mayci Breaux was a victim. Lora Lavigne spoke with the Breaux family, who says her legacy is greater than this tragedy as a scholarship foundation created in her name is now well over $50,000.
  • The final two Town Hall Meetings for the proposed measure to split the Lafayette City-Parish Council into two seperate councils will take place this evening.
  • A 63-year old man was arrested in St. Martinville for Attempted Second Degree Murder after beating another man with a piece of concrete.
  • The tax deal struck by lawmakers and Governor John Bel Edwards to balance this year’s budget will end Louisiana’s state sales tax holidays for seven years.
  • A former UL-Lafayette graduate recently made history by becoming the youngest African-American female owner of a Mcdonald’s franchise. Jade Colin owns a restaurant in Harvey.
  • The Univeristy of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Career Services is collecting inventory for ‘The Career Closet.’ – which provides students with free clothes for professional networking events. The drive will take place Tuesday and Thursday this week.
  • Happening today in the Hub City, drumlines will be gathering to compete in Louisiana’s only Drum Corps International Event – Drums Across Cajun Field! It begins at 7:00 p.m. at Cajun Field.
  • The very hot weather rolls into the work week. Skies will be partly cloudy with a high in the mid 90’s. The heat index will be around 103-115°. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon today until 8pm. Isolated showers and storms are possible late this afternoon and for the evening hours.
