Here are some of today’s headlines you should know before heading out the door:
- Two Opelousas parents were charged with felony cruelty charges of a juvenile. The juvenile was forced to live in a shed with little food and no AC for three weeks.
- The mother of the baby who was found set on fire in Natchitoches is now accused for being involved in her son’s murder. She was arrested on one count of principal to 1st degree murder.
- The man wanted in an Opelousas shooting that happened over a week ago has turned himself in. Tyrese Hatfield has been charged with aggravated second degree battery.
- The investigation of an instructor of Pearl Driving School in Broussard continued Wednesday. Instructor 60-year old Roy Thompson in a comment only to News 10 — says there’s nothing to the allegations.
- One Hub City resident has questions about parking in his neighborhood after he an his neighbors got citations for parking in the street or blocking sidewalks. The law states, street parking is okay,expect when stated otherwise by signage. And blocking sidewalks is illegal, unless you’re in your driveway.
- LCG has launched a new website for drainage progress tracking in Lafayette Parish. The website details the budget, maps, timelines and more of the current 27 drainage projects taking place in the parish.
- More than half of the rice grown in the United States goes into the export market. But according to one local farmer anytime a tariff is put into place, it can affect access into certain markets.
- Iberia Parish Animal Control and Shelter says they need dogs and cats adopted as soon as possible because of over crowding. They need room for about 15 to 20 more dogs by Friday. There’s an $80 adoption fee for dogs, and a $50 fee for cats.
- Chez Hope is raising funds to build an emergency shelter between St. Martin and Iberia Parishes. The center is hosting its signature fundraising trivia event Friday at the Cade Community Center from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
- The hot temps remain in place but the humidity levels remain down across Acadiana with no Heat Advisory in place today. Skies will be partly cloudy with a high in the mid 90s. The heat index will be around 100-107°.
